Little House in the Big Woods

First published in 1932, this book begins the classic story of Laura Ingalls Wilder and her pioneer family. Little House in the Big Woods introduces the Ingalls family, who are living in the woods of Wisconsin. Each chapter is a wonderful, firsthand picture of American pioneer life that will draw children in and endear them to Pa, Ma, Laura, her sisters, and their dog, Jack, forever.

In our curriculum, the Little House series is begun in second grade and is considered a MUST READ for this grade level; this book is a great introduction to chapter book reading, and most children will want to keep reading the rest of the books in the series, too!
