Details

This course will provide students with an introduction to the concept of biblical archaeology and how archaeology is a bridge between the humanities and social sciences. Students will understand how archaeological expeditions, finds, and sites compliment the Scriptures and of their cultural, historical, religious, and social value as complementary tools of study to the Scriptures. The course will explore the process of excavation and dating, how sites are found, and challenges encountered by biblical archaeologists in a secular-dominated field of expertise.

As theology is queen of the sciences, this course will broaden students’ understanding of the nature of God and His Word as preserved in the annals of history, both in the social sciences and the humanities. Students will strengthen their understanding of the archaeological and historical backgrounds of the Old and New Testaments; analyze the cultural, literary, and social impact of archaeological expeditions; and how these complement their preserved truths; as well as to identify the direct correlations among history, science, and religion.
