Shakespearean Literature - Summer B - Live Online Course
Details
Students will study select sonnets and five of Shakespeare's plays, examining the pieces as both literary works and performances meant for the stage. Students will experience the genius of Shakespeare's language and character insight by reading, discussing, memorizing, and performing sections of the plays. Students will analyze the writings as they relate to their historical background and to underlying theological concepts, applying a Christian worldview to Shakespeare's characters and themes. Students will collaborate in rewriting an act from one of the plays they study and will perform it in class. Homework will average 3 - 5 hours per week for the summer course, depending on reading speed.
